New Delhi, Oct 15 (IANS): In view of the reported damage to foodgrain stocks in central warehouses in cyclone-hit Odisha, Food Minister K.V. Thomas Tuesday rushed a team of officials to coordinate food distribution in the cyclone-affected areas, an official said.
"The minister has asked officials to be in touch with the state government and ensure immediate action in case of any requirement of foodgrain in the cyclone-affected area," said the official in a statement here.
The action was taken after reports that foodgrain stored in central and state warehouses at Jagannathpur and Berhampur were damaged due to cyclone Phailin Sunday.
