New Delhi, Oct 8 (IANS): A police official at a central Delhi police station misbehaved with a Delhi University student who was enquiring about the beating up of a man in front of her, a written complaint said.
According to the complaint given to Delhi Commission for Women, Daryaganj police official Ravindra Kumar misbehaved with Leena, the Delhi University student who was questioning the reason why policemen had beaten up a man before her.
"I was taken to the police station and set free only after 45 minutes," Leena told IANS on phone.
"Sep 29, I was with a friend when I saw policemen beating up a bleeding man sitting on the road near the Daryaganj police station. When I intervened, police officer Ravindra Kumar abused me and misbehaved with me," said Leena.
She said police took both of them to the police station and let her go after 45 minutes.
The officer, however, denied the allegation, saying the man was lying on the road. The policeman reiterated he only took the man to the roadside.
On Friday, a policeman of west Delhi's Uttam Nagar was suspended for misbehaving with a sexual assault victim.
The woman alleged when she approached a police station to register her sexual assault complaint, the policeman misbehaved with her and forced her to leave without registering her case.
