Mangalore, Mar 9: Social justice is a crying need of the present day society. In recent times in spite of scientific, technological and IT 'revolutions', inequality between different groups of people is on the increase.  Globalization has caused further inequality, injustice and destruction of nature. Injustice leads to conflict and violence. The 'global village' is threatened by growing violence.

What is the way out of this impasse? Do religions or other world vies have an answer?  How can religions promote a just social order? 

All these questions will be discussed in detail at an inter-religious symposium "Religions for Social Justice", jointly organized by Mangalore University Chair in Christianity, Dharma Samanvaya and Mandd Sobhann on Saturday March 11 at 4 pm. The symposium will be held at St Agnes College Auditorium.

Renowned social activist and recipient of Right Livelihood Award - 2004, Swami Agnivesh will deliver a lecture during the symposium.  Dr S D Shetty, Retd Professor, SDM College, Ujire, Janab Rafiuddin Kudroli, president of Dharma Prakashana and Fr Joseph Lobo, SJ, director of Jnana Jyoti, Anekal will also deliver lecture on the occasion.
