Mangalore, Mar 9: Laxman Kumar Mallur, a known face in the Tulu and Kannada theatre, film world has been awarded the prestigous Karnataka Nataka Academy award for the year 2004-05.
Laxman Kumar Mallur had made his first appearance on the stage at the very tender age of 10. From then he has never looked back. He has acted in a number of Kannada as well as Tulu plays. He has also rendered his voice to more than 50 radio plays. He has the distinct credit of having most of his plays being staged more than 100 times. Some of his plays have even made over 250 performances, a record, which is very tough to beat.
He has also acted in the Tulu movie “Bangar Patler” and serials such as “Jeevanmukhi”. Over the years he has won numerous awards and prizes at the state level for his acting as well as service to the theatre field.
Despite working as a deputy general manager in the South Canara District Central Cooperative Bank, Mallur has always found time for theatrical activities.
Laxman Kumar Mallur will be felicitated by Kadri Friends Club on Sunday March 12 morning at a special ceremony to be held at Canara College here.
