Mangalore, Mar 8: Following three powerful bomb blasts on Tuesday March 7 evening in the holy city of Varanasi (Kashi), security has been beefed up around prominent temples and shrines of the State.
As reported earlier in these columns prominent temples Shri Manjunatheshwara Temple at Dharmasthala, Sri Krishna Math at Udupi, Shri Mookambika Temple at Kollur, ISKON Temple at Bangalore are among the few temples in the country, which possibly could become the target of terrorists.
Along with this security has also been tightened around temples at Shringeri, Gokarna and world famous Shri Chamundeshwari Temple at Mysore. Though some of the temples had been warned by the intelligence bureau regarding a possible attacks, nothing much had been done to tighten security in these places.
Now after 3 major blasts ripped through Varanasi, the police are on their toes in arranging security to the temples. The major bus stops, railway stations and airports in the State are now under police scanner. The bomb disposal squads, bomb detection squads and sniffer dogs squads are subjecting every passenger for a security check-up.
