Udupi, Oct 3: "Karanth is an asset of Karnataka state. He has inspired for social changes and their conversion through his literary works. He was proud of mother land and had called for progressive changes in society through his novels," said Kagodu Thimmappa, president of legislative assembly.
He was speaking after inaugurating a ten days literary and cultural festival jointly held by Kotathattu grama panchayat, kannada and cultural department, Dr Shivarama Trust regd Udupi and Dr Shivarama Karanth Huttoora Prashasti Pratistana Kota.
We have to follow Karanth’s way of thinking and walk in his footsteps. Karanth who never felt tired in his attempt to correct society will remain as a part of this land, he said.
The festival was inaugurated by beating the drums by Dr Vijay Ballal of Sri Kshetra Ambalpadi. He said that the mud of Kota has unique strength and Karanth has made it aware to the world. The nature here has Karanth’s dreams and the shine of his way of living. We should have eyes to see them, he said.
He also inaugurated the photographs exhibition held by Brahmavara photographer’s association by flashing a camera. Kagodu Thimmappa inaugurated Karanth theme park website. Karanth Prathistan president Ananda C Kunder inaugurated the computer room.
Grama panchayat president Shobha inaugurated the programme. Zilla panchayat member Sunitha Rajaram, Taluk panchayat member Raghavendra Kanchan, Central library official Venkatesh, Grama panchayat member Pramod Hande, Prabhakar Kanchan, Jayashree, Mahesh Kumar and Children literature conference president Suvratha Adiga were present. On behalf of Grama panchayat Kotathattu, president of legislative assembly Kagodu Thimmappa felicitated Ambalpady temple secretary Dr Vijaya Ballal.
Hangarkattee Rotary club president Chandrashekar Holla, JCI Kalyanpur president Mitra Kumar and Brahmavar photographer’s association’s Raghavendra Poojary were felicitated.
President of Karanth Pratistana Ananda C Kunder welcomed. Parishat member former minister Kota Srinivas Poojary gave a key note address. Narendra Kumar Kota read the details of the felicitated. Students Uttama and Sri conducted the programme.
