Kollur, Mar 7: Famous singer and music director Ilayaraja on Monday March 6 dedicated a diamond crown worth Rs 30 lac to goddess Mookambika of Kollur Mookambika temple. After religious rituals Sri Raghaveshwara Teertha Swamiji of Sri Ramachandrapura Math, Hosanagar, adorned the idol of goddess Mookambika with the diamond crown.
Ilayayaraja said as his talent for music comes from goddess Mookambika and it was his chance to return to 'amma' (goddess) a part of her gift to him. He also expressed his wish to bring one musical video album on the theme 'Ramayana'.
Sri Raghaveshwara Swamiji announced to honour Ilayaraja with the title 'Purushothama' during the 10-day 'Shree Ramayana Mahasathra' starting April 14.
Wife Jeeva Ilayaraja, daughter Bhavatarini, son-in-law Shabariraj and commissioner of the department of religious endowment Shyam Bhat were present.
