Hyderabad, Sep 30 (IANS): A special court Monday granted permission to YSR Congress party chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy to visit his native Kadapa district Tuesday and Wednesday.
The special CBI court, however, turned down his request to allow him to tour Guntur, where he was planning to address a public meeting in support of 'samaikyandhra' or united Andhra agitation.
The MP from Kadapa, who was released from jail on conditional bail last week, will visit Idupulapaya in Kadapa district to pay his respects to his later father Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy at his grave.
Jagan, as the MP is popularly known, also wanted to visit Guntur on Oct 4 to address a public meeting to launch his campaign in Seemandhra (Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra) against Congress party's decision to bifurcate the state.
After spending nearly 16 months in jail in a disproportionate assets case, the young leader walked out of jail Tuesday. The CBI court, which granted him conditional bail, has directed him not to leave Hyderabad without court's permission.
The CBI opposed Jagan's petition seeking court permission to visit Idupulapaya and Guntur. The investigating agency said the MP might try to influence the witnesses in the case.
Jagan's lawyer argued that he wants to visit his father's grave. The court granted permission for the same but refused permission to visit Guntur.
