- Siddharamaiah names city AHINDA chief
Mysore, Mar 3: It is only when a Government that works for removing inequality in society that the goals of the Constitution would be achieved, argued ABPJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Siddharamaiah.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Youth Wing of AHINDA in Cosmopolitan Club here yesterday. The Constitution of India, which includes many religions and castes, has been framed after studying the Constitutions of many countries. Governments are required to follow the provision of the Constitution, Siddharamaiah observed.
‘AHINDA is not confined to any particular religion or caste. It has no political affiliation. It is an outfit that aims at securing the welfare of minorities, backward classes and dalits’, he explained.
‘Bharatiya Janata Party was misleading the people with assurance of bringing Hindutva rule in the country. The party was trying to divide the people in the name of caste. But there is no provision for such tactics in the Constitution,’ he argued.
‘AHINDA is pursuing its movement within the framework of the Constitution. Many powerful groups are working to stall the progress of AHINDA. There is a need to keep vigil about such groups,’ he remarked.
On the occasion, Siddharamaiah installed Gracian Rodrigues (Babu) as the President of city AHINDA.
State Youth Wing President Appanna, TP President Venkataswamy, Vice-President H.P. Shivaprakash, Devanur Shivamallu, Prof. Govindaiah and Catholic Association President Alexander were on the dais.
