Karwar, Mar 3: Theft has become a common feature these days. But when it comes to theft in high security areas, it is not that common a feature. Owing to the high security, round-the-clock patrolling etc, thieves cannot easily break into these zones. But this theft in the equally high security campus of Seabird naval base has left several questions behind even about the so-called 'high security.'
Theft worth Rs 1 lac has been reported from the staff quarters of Seabird here recently. Electrical, electronic and household gadgets have been stolen from the staff quarters in which no one lived. This theft has surprised quite a few as even the police have no entry to this zone.
Even the public or government officials should follow the same norms regarding the entry into this area. Everyone entering and coming out of the premises is frisked from head to toe. Yet, in spite of this, some fans, regulators, mirrors, washbasins etc have been stolen from the campus.
The Karwar rural police have registered a case in this regard. Additional SP R Dilip too visited the naval complex and inspected the place along with his staff on Thursday March 2.
