Five held for rape of minor girl

Guwahati, Sep 17 (IANS): Five youths said to be minor have been arrested here in Assam for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl, police said Tuesday.

The five were picked up after a complaint by the girl's mother, said Senior Superintendent of Police A.P. Tiwary.

The rape took place Saturday and the the girl told her mother about it the next day.

Tiwary said there was "enough evidence to prove the involvement of the five" in the rape.

Parents of the youths claim their children are minors. A Juvenile Board Monday sent the five to a reform home.
