Udupi: Ambagilu Ganeshotsava draws to a colourful end

Udupi, Sep 17: The week-long Ganesha festival at Ambagilu here, organized by Ambagilu Sarvajanika Ganeshostva Samiti came to a colourful end on Sunday September 15.
The Samiti marked its 25th anniversary of ‘Ganeshotsava’ programmes in Ambagilu with a grand procession.
Prior to the procession and immersion of the idol, lord Ganesh was worshipped or one week from Monday September 9 to Sunday September 15. The Samiti members organized cultural programmes every evening during the week.
On Sunday, a ‘Brahat Visarjana Meravanige' (immersion procession) started from Ambagilu near Manipal Cross Road to Old Nittur School - Thangadangadi, Ambagilu Junction, fish market, along the NH 66 upto Abharan Motors showroom and returned on the NH before culminating with Mayagundi in Ambagilu.
Procession started at 4.30 pm after a fancy dress contest and ended at around 11 pm. Prior to the procession, a stage show was organized by Janata Vyayama School, Ambagilu.
More than 10,000 devotees witnessed the grand celebration.
