Udupi, Sep 15: Regarding the major issues faced by the people of coastal belt, Uday Kumar Shetty, BJP district president, called a press meet at BJP office and demanded that the government withdraw the enforced process of land registration through 9/11 rule within the next 15 days.
The small land owners are effected more here as they are not in a position to sell their land during times of emergency.
Speaking to media persons, he said that the rule 9/11 was really meant for a few villages of Bangalore but it was later extended to the state as a whole. Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts should be exempted from the rule.
“Vinay Kumar Sorakke earlier had personally opposed the application of 9/11 in the district and now he himself is the Minister for Urban Development. It's high time we acted on this issue. It is an unscientific process to implement the 9/11 rule to the Gram Panchayath. In each GP in the district, around 300-400 orders are issued over land conversions and so it is not possible to get a design blueprint for all the land that is converted,” he added
Shetty said that the former BJP government had finished all the paper work to exempt both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts from the 9/11 rule. “The order remained in limbo following the announcement of poll code of conduct and change in officials after the new government,” he said.
He added that the district in-charge Vinay Kumar Sorake should take immediate action in this regard.
