Mangalore, Sep 14: The All College Student Association for the year 2013-14 was inaugurated by formed union minister B Janardhan Poojary during a programme held at Town hall on Saturday September 14.
The oath taking ceremony of the newly elected office bearers of the association was led by State youth services and fisheries minister K Abhayachandra Jain.
Speaking on the occasion, B Janardhan Poojary said, “Students are the future of our country. The life of students should be a role model to others. They should seek guidance from elders in all their work.”
“Youth power is precious and no other power can beat this,” said Poojary. He asked the students to see to it that no immoral activities takes place in college campus.
He also asked students to achieve more and prove that they can build the nation, and thus bring changes in the society.
On the occasion, former minister Poojary asked few general knowledge questions to the students gathered and also rewarded cash prizes for giving correct answers.
Minister Jain said that he was extremely happy as the programme was inaugurated by a veteran politician like Janardhan Poojary who is a role model to all upcoming politicians. He asked the members to work for student rights.
He advised students to inculcate good character and build corruption free society.
Mithun Rai, district youth congress president welcomed the gathering while Rajshekar Madanthar compered.
Former mayor Shashidar Hegde, NSUI president Ashith Pereira, KPCC secretary Ivan D’Souza, corporators Praveen Chandra Alva, Ashok D K, Kavitha, Rathikala, Harikrishna Bantwal, All College Student Association president Rupesh Rai, Padmanab Amin, association office bearers, among others were present.
