Beijing, Sep 13 (IANS): A court in northwest China sentenced three men to death and one man to 25 years in jail for the terrorist attack in Lukqun, about 200 km south-east of the region's capital Urumqi, June 26 this year which killed 24 people.
The Intermediate People's Court in Shanshan county Thursday handed the death penalty to Ahmatniyaz Sidiq, Urayim Eli and Abdulla Esrapil for organising, leading and participating in a terrorist act, reported Xinhua.
Akram Usman was sentenced to 25 years in jail for homicide and arson.
Police investigation showed that the attacks in Shanshan June 26 were premeditated and the methods used were merciless, said the court.
The attacks killed 24 people, including two police officers, and injured 23 others, leading to a direct economic loss of 2.13 million yuan.
