Ranchi, Sep 5 (IANS): Three Maoist guerillas, including one accused of killing nine people, were arrested while in an incident, Maoists killed a villager in Jharkhand's Gumla district Thursday, police said.
Two guerrillas belonging to People's Liberation Front of India were arrested after a gun battle with police in Gumla district. Weapons were also recovered from them.
Following a search operation, a shootout took place between police and the guerrillas in the Jorat jungle of Gumla district, around 140 km from Ranchi.
In another development, police arrested Basant Gope from Ghaghra of Gumla district. He is accused of killing nine people in the same district in 2011.
Meanwhile, Maoists killed one villager, Vijay Verma, in the same district, alleging he was a police informer.
The guerrillas are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
