BSF seizes Rs.10-lakh fake notes, nabs youth


Kolkata, Sep 3 (IANS): The Border Security Force (BSF) Tuesday recovered Rs.10 lakh fake Indian currency notes (FICN) and arrested a man from a border outpost in West Bengal's Malda district.

The money comprising Rs.1,000 and Rs.500 denomination counterfeit notes was kept in a plastic bag and thrown into the Indian side from across the Bangladesh border. Noor Islam, 19, a resident of Kaliachak in the district, was apprehended.

Over the past month, the BSF has seized fake Indian currency notes of face value of over Rs.37 lakh from the district.
