Mangalore: Another train accident - Man from Odisha killed

Mangalore, Aug 12: A man was killed after being hit by train here on Sunday August 11 night near Thokkottu Olapete.

The deceased has been identified as Basanth K M Sethlai (30).

As per an identity card found in his pocket, he was employed in Erofab Technicals in Kalunga Industrial Estate, Rourkela, Odisha.

This is the third train accident in this area in the last one week.

On Aug 6, Naushad, a  resident of Sundaribagh met with accident and on August 10, Manikanata, a security guard from Coimbatore had committed suicide at the same spot.

    Good day to my dear Daiji friends!
    I worked for Indian Railways as a driver of express trains for about 1 year after I left the Navy, driving from Bombay to Delhi.
    Please note that if I am the driver of a train, I cannot suddenly stop a train weighing around 2000 tons even with emergency brakes!! The train will stop after around 1 kilometer since a train moves on steel tracks and on steel wheels and the traction is minimum.The brakes are ineffective at a speed of 100KMPH and the train will slide on the tracks no matter what.
    I have a split second decision to make - either the life of a few thousand people or a single person.
    I will rather save my passengers than a single person.
    I will definitely save my passengers if I am a driver now!

    The train accidents mostly happens when people use the train as a mode for suicide.Sometime the accident do happen mainly due to neglegance of people.Hope the railways will find out the cause for this death and do the needful.Thanq.

    There is no place to stand/survive from train....bcs of bushes near the track...This s the fault of railway....
