Bangalore, Jul 16: No recruitments will be conducted in universities and government departments in Hyderabad-Karnataka till the Cabinet sub-committee submit a report on guidelines for implementation of development works in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region was received.
The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah gave this categorical clarification in the State Assembly in view of the special status given to the Hyderabad-Karnataka region under Article 371 (J) of the Constitution by the Centre.
In a reply to Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli of KJP during the question hour, Siddaramaiah said the Cabinet would take a decision on government recruitments in the region after studying the cabinet sub-committee report.
The Centre has asked Karnataka to send a detailed proposal as President of India has to issue an ordinance with regard to implementation of the Article 371 (J).
The panel was expected to submit the report on Wednesday.
Karnataka’s Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H K Patil is the chairman of the panel.
The Hyderabad-Karnataka region comprises Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Bellary, Koppal and Raichur districts.
The terms and references of the panel were formulation of rules and guidelines for the Hyderabad-Karnataka Development Board, reservation in jobs and quota in admission to technical education.
Earlier, Nagamarapalli and B R Patil ( both KJP) urged the government to stop on-going recruitment process in the Veterinary University in Bidar till the Government formulated the guidelines to ensure justice to candidates of H-K region.
Communal incidents:
Home Minister K J George told BJP member C T Ravi that a total of 80 incidents related communal violence had taken place in the State during the last thee years.
The police have registered cases against 1110 persons, who indulged in 13 cases, and steps have been taken for their punishment.
He said 65 cases were pending before courts and investigation was going on in 14 cases. Persons in 10 cases were acquitted from charges.
The highest number of communal incidents took place in Belgaum (27) followed by Haveri (13), and Bijapur (8), Shimoga, Dharwad (5 each) and Dakshina Kannada (1).
