New Delhi, July 11 (IANS): A group of 10 differently abled artistes enthralled inmates of the Tihar Jail here Thursday by showcasing their skills on wheelchair, an official release from the organisers said.
The cultural programme for more than 1,000 inmates of the Tihar Ashram included performances like Sufi dance, Bharatnatyam and yoga on wheelchair.
"We organise many shows like poetry reading and dance, but I never saw inmates getting involved this much ever before. I saw spirituality in the eyes of the inmates during the show," Rajesh Chauhan, superintendent of Tihar's Jail No.3, was quoted as saying in the release.
The show was organised by Ability Unlimited Foundation in association with Hans Foundation.
Guruji Syed Sallauddin Pasha, founder director and choreographer of Ability Unlimited Foundation, said: "The performance by the physically challenged, hearing and speech impaired persons gives the message of indomitable spirit, dignity, equality, showcasing that god has bestowed best things in life which can be utilised to create a better society".
