Bangalore, Jul 11: Sheila D'Souza, working with Deva Matha Central School as a teacher in Horamavu, Bangalore received the prestigious Charkha Award from governor H R Bhardwaj recently.
She won the award for her article written on child rights in Prajavani Kannada daily.
Charkha National Development Communication Network recently announced its Charkha Awards for Excellence in Development Journalism (Kannada), presented to journalists/writers for their articles on development issues.
The article titled “Moggina Manasu" had appeared on July 21, 2012. It spoke about child abuse in India and about pedophilia. The article was about generating awareness in the society against child abuse.
Sheila is working as a teacher from past 26 years and has currently completed 13 years with Deva Matha Central School in Horamavu. She likes writing articles on child related issues.
Sheila D'Souza is the wife of Anthony D'Souza, a retired bank manager. They have two children - Odeal D'Souza, a journalist with DNA newspaper, and Oscar D'Souza who is an engineer. They reside in Nandanam colony on Horamavu Main Road.
