One detained in connection with Bodh Gaya serial blasts

Gaya, Jul 8 (PTI): One person was detained today by the NIA in connection with the serial blasts at the Mahabodhi temple in which two monks were injured.

DIG, Magadh Range, Nayyer Hasnain Khan said an identity card was found within the temple premises yesterday on the basis of which the person was detained.

The NIA, Khan said, was interrogating him.

"One suspect hailing from Barachatti block in Gaya has been detained and we are questioning him. We have been analysing the footage and based on that some more people would be questioned soon," a senior police official said.

"All the CCTV cameras in the Mahabodhi temple premises were fully functional. As you must have seen in the CCTV footage, both state security personnel and temple's own security personnel were present. I don't think there was any lapse on security front," the official said.

A five-member NIA team comprising a DIG and two SPs reached here yesterday by a special plane from New Delhi and went straight to the Mahabodhi temple to start investigations.

Security has been stepped up at the temple and adjoining areas.

Terror struck one of the holiest Buddhist shrines and other places in Bihar's pilgrimage town of Bodh Gaya yesterday with suspected Indian Mujahideen operatives simultaneously triggering nine low intensity bombs.

While four blasts took place inside the Mahabodhi Temple complex, three occurred in Karmapa monastery, one each near near the famous 80-ft Buddha statue and at the bus stand near bypass.

The temple's sanctum sanctorum and the Bodhi Tree, under which Lord Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment, did not suffer any damage in the blasts.

    Richard,

Anybody can have favour with any political party - today they may support one, tomorrow they may change to another. Arguing in favour of your party and criticizing the other is not communalism - instigating one community against the other on religious basis is communalism.

But, what this gentleman asking is 'why rules apply only to Hindus'. People can take guise of another religion and beg - that is noble - my asking him 'why could it too not have been a starting of a bomb-planting-mission' did not go well with him.

Haven't you noticed the moment a terror attack happens, it is their assumption that the act is done by a particular community. Pgagnya singh, Purohit, Malegaon, Samjauta Express, Mecca Masjit are all conspiracies of Congress to malign Hindus. Despite all of this, he asks whether rules apply to Hindus alone ?

Just imagine - one incident can be mistaken - how come all the above point in one direction ?

Granted - they have enmity with Muslims - why make lives of Christians miserable by breaking their houses of prayer ? Are we not driven around and made fools ?

    Ponder young man, ponder !

    Lydia Lobo, Kadri -
"Pgagnya singh, Purohit, Malegaon, Samjauta Express, Mecca Masjit " ..so what s your opinion of other 100s of blast happened in india which congress never interested to solve ..are all those pointing towards other side ?
or recent killing of cop in uk or marathon blast in usa or killing in Nigeria ......
there is no pragya or rss in usa or uk or Nigeria or in Pakistan..
just count how many prayer or house of Christians broken in india (indeed broken and in same manner condemned by majority community) and compare it to our neighbor land ..

    Raj,

Prgnya... etc is to point out that there are Hindus in the example of Pragnya Sing and the others who believe in non-violence.

Now, one should either believe Pragnya is Hindu if that is true hinduism or against her kind of Hindu religion that is based on peace similarly, all blast example you gave should not be counted on religious basis but on terror basis. A real Hindu or Muslim will not believe in killing for the continuation of their religion.

Breaking of Prayer houses is step one towards going in the system of how our neighbour country is functioning. We don't want a democratic nation (India) to transform like our neighbour (dictatorship). Do you agree with this or you want to function like our neighbour ?

    Mr. Prabhu,

There is no need to be offended nor to accuse others not to be doing their part of job. I just gave back your own medicine.

DW displays in Block Letters a disclaimer but none seem to be noticing it, many take the website for granted. Post a comment in any other website it takes more than a couple of hours to come online - DW takes few seconds to release a post if the comment is not very long. Elsewhere several words are pegged as 'not permissible' - if any such word appear in the post, the comment is never put up.

If you think you have become this way after reading comments on DW, don't you think some change in lifestyle or preferences must be adopted ?

As I have always been, I continue to be in gratitude to DW for this wonderful forum that helped me to improve my debating talent. Are you ? However, I can't debate from both sides - you do your part of criticizing, accusing, let me manage my side.

I don't think anything exchanged here should hurt anybody's ego.

    @ Mr. Prabhu

Why sorry... please don't be... You are citizen of a nation that granted freedom of speech to her people. Please keep up your spirit also in instances like some men from North came to Bhatkal, donned cap/beard and occupied in begging. They could well have occupied in planting a bomb too - what do you say ?

Well,I agree and that' the spirit!Freedom of expression granted in the constitution is applicable only to Hindus? Are you not reading full comments in this web portal from time to time? Why dont you react sharply when ever there is hurting comments from core secularists? Why this drama?
Ask DW to paste your advise for the information of all readers/commentaors from the group in referred to.I have no intention to write wrong comments/hurting comments, only circumstances force me to do that.I was very secular to the core before reading DW.Now I have my own doubt about that! Thanks for freedom of expression granted by our constitution!
