Qatar, Jun 23: Qatar Cricket Academy which is controlled by Qatar Cricket Association (Affiliated to ICC, ACC & QOC Doha Qatar) recently organized super 8 cricket tournament at Qatar international Cricket ground located in Sanaiya.

Master cricketer Desh Pandey inaugurated the tournament. Four teams namely Red, Maroon, Yellow and Blue participated in the tournament.

In the first match, team Red defeated team Yellow. In the second match team Blue defeated team Maroon. In a match to decide between third and fourth place, team Maroon defeated team Yellow. In the final match, team Red played against team Blue and the match ended in a tie. A  super over was played to decide the winners but team Blue held their nerves to win the tournament with a boundary to lift the QCA cup super 8 Trophy 2013.

Commentary was done by well known commentator Ejaz Ahmad. Scorer Sunil Bhandary contributed his precious time and patience for the success of the tournament. Lady umpires Paramjith Kaur and Shivani Mishra played an important role in justifying the league with true sportsmen spirit by being just to either of the team. Cheer girls namely Priyanka Shetty, Dviti Shetty and Sanvi Shetty cheered the players as well as the gathered audiences with their fascinating dance performance off field. DJ Nithesh D, the DJ of the day made an immense effect on the crowd as well as players and of course on cheer girls by his enthusiastic songs on track which helped them to gain the spirit of sportsmanship.

QCA general secretary Manzoor Ahmed, senior coach Mukthar, school coordinator Ameen ul Islam were the chief guests for the prize distribution ceremony. Umpiring coordinators Mohammed Nawaz, coach Trishan and Jahangir were present.

The association thanks all the parents, well wishers and assistant coach Malik Nadeem who contributed to the success of the tournament. The tournament was organized independently by Qatar national junior coach M S Abdul Salam Mannagudda, Mangalore.
