Dubai, Jun 10: Suratkal parishioners residing in the UAE celebrated the feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday June 7 at the India Club, Dubai with great devotion and enthusiasm.
The day was full of fun and entertainment and took the parishioners to a festive mood and also provided an opportunity for the parishioners to unite as one family. The day started with all parishioners attending the 10:15 am mass at St Mary’s Church, Dubai.
Canute Pinto who was the compere for the day gave a brief introduction of the event. President of ESPA (Emirates Suratkal Parishioners Association) Ashok Kumar D’Souza delivered the welcome message. He remembered that on this day the parishioners back in Suratkal were also celebrating the Feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus and conveyed the wishes of ESPA members to the parish priest and all parishioners. This was followed by a prayer lead by Clara Pinto and Diana Leena Pinto. ESPA Advisor Godfrey Misquith read the prayerful greetings sent by Fr Antony Lobo, parish priest of Suratkal. Secretary Clara Pinto read the annual report. ESPA Advisor Valerian Almeida gave information about the charitable activities of the association.
The day long programme comprised of games, skits, dance and songs by the parishioners. Talented kids of the parish Jerusha, Fiona, Inish, Joshua, Ashlyn, Nahshon, Olan, Rian, Calvina, Aaron, Alston, Ashith, Nicole, Alston, Christon, Arhaan, Ashton, Gleon enthralled the audience with their dance performance. Prashanth Mascarenhas, Deepak D’Souza Wilson Serrao, Valerian and Roydon took the audience to a hilarious mood with their rib tickling skits. Songs sung by Ronald Lobo, Wilson Crasta, Clara Pinto,Calvina Pinto, Franky Lancy D’Souza, Kevin Cutinho, Rohan D’Souza, Vincent Misquith were well appreciated by the audience. Olan on keyboards and Rian on the violin once again entertained the gathering with their music and singing. The Baila session that followed was enjoyed by the youngsters to the core.
More than 100 parishioners along with their families attended the gathering and all the members from young to old enjoyed the day and left for the day with unforgettable memories and waiting for more to come in the future.
A delicious buffet lunch was served along with snacks and drinks and kept the members filled with energy and enthusiasm throughout the day.
The well-organized function came to an end with a positive note and the secretary Clara Pinto on behalf of ESPA committee expressed gratitude to all those who had helped directly or indirectly in making the occasion memorable.
ESPA advisors Godfreey Misquith, Valerian Dalmeida ESPA immediate past president and founder president Sunil Pinto and ESPA committee members William Sequeira, Gilbert D’Souza, Jerald D’Souza, Leena Diana Pinto gave away the prizes and the mementos. ESPA committee members Roydon Roche, Vineeth Cutinho, Wilson Crasta, Vincent Misquith, Romoola D’Souza and David D’Souza were all present.
The enthusiasm and cooperation of the parishioners truly made the day memorable for all.
