Mangalore: Young athlete Itihas Shetty (20) dies in car accident

Mangalore, Jun 9 : An accident in the wee hours of Sunday June 9 claimed the life of young athlete Ithihas Shetty (20), a second year engineering student of St Joseph's Engineering College, Mangalore.
The deceased, Ithihas Shetty was a state level sprinter and a TT player who represented his school/college in High School and College. He was also the school people leader at St Aloysius Primary School and was quite popular during his school/college days.
The accident occurred on Kadri Park Road near Bal Bhavan when the car he was travelling lost control and swirled hitting the pillar of the compound wall of the building and died on the way to the hospital.
According to reliable sources Ithihas was driving the car with three other TT players with him and was returning from a match practice. The other two boys escaped with minor injuries, it is learnt.
On the Kadri Park road he lost control of the vehicle as there was water logging due to heavy rain and his car hit the compound wall pillar from the driver’s side. The pillar of the compound wall had had almost pierced the front door of the car which must have proved fatal for Ithihas.
His athletic coach Dinesh Kunder expressed shock and dismay at the death of this young athlete saying he was a promising athlete and TT player who was very focused and quite talented.
A young and promising life withered away before it could bloom and spread its fragrance.
Kadri police arrived at the spot and registered a case.
