Karkala, Jan 3: In one more accident, a bicycle rider was knocked down to death by a speeding Tata Sumo vehicle at Nooralbettu near here on Saturday December 31 evening.
The deceased has been identified as Shankar Harijan (35), a resident of Nadayipalke here. He was on his way to Kambala at Miyar when a Tata Sumo vehicle coming from Shimoga rammed into his bicycle at Karamarkatte near Nooralnbettu at 7.30 pm. As a result Shankar received serious injuries in his head. He was immediately admitted to Government Hospital here. But he succumbed to the injuries later in the night.
He is survived by wife and two children.
Karkala police have booked a case against Tata Sumo driver Ishwar in this regard.
