MUMBAI, Jan 1: Moving quickly in the sensational case of an NRI model from South Africa, police have detained two men accused of raping the woman after drugging her and picking her up from Hotel Bawa International on Thursday night. DNA first reported the case on Saturday.
Joint Commissioner of Police (law and order) Arup Patnaik told DNA that the men were held near Ulhasnagar on Saturday and are being brought to the city. They were later identified as Sunil Mopani and Suresh Krishnani.
According to her complaint, Reshma Khan (not her real name) is met Bawa International owner Gurinder Singh Bawa at the JW Marriot on Monday.
After a formal introduction, she was invited to his hotel near Santa Cruz airport. On Thursday night, she visited the hotel and was offered alcoholic drinks in its pub Avalon.
Khan said the drinks were laced with drugs, which left her in a daze.
She was then whisked away in a car and raped repeatedly. Khan had a visiting card belonging to one of the culprits. The name on the card was Aditya M, but his Reliance cell number was traced to Mopani.
Likewise, the credit card the man used at Avalon to pay the cover charge was traced to Krishnani
