Mangalore: Koti-Chennaya circle inaugurated at Nandigudda

Mangalore, May 19: "The history of Koti-Chennaya dates back to the 6th century. Koti and Chennaya are two historical personalities who struggled for social justice and equality in society. The ideology of Koti-Chennaya is not reserved for any one community but it is for the whole society. In contemporary scenario the ideology of Koti-Chennaya should be a role model to society," said former minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.
He was speaking during the inauguration of Koti-Chennaya circle at Nandigudda here on Sunday May 19. The programme was organized by Narayana Guru Yuva Vedike.
After inaugurating Koti-Chennaya circle, Ramesh Kumar, MD of Janatha Constructions in his address said the work of Narayana Guru Yuva Vedike is a model to society.
"In our society we find many organizations but all of them should join hands to do better work in their own hometown. This kind of development will be useful to society," he said.
Chittaranjan, president of Garodi Temple said this circle was very important for Mangalore and it also served to preserve the memory of Kotti-Chennaya.
Former mayor Shashidhar Hegde also spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion, Purushotham Rai, Premananda Shetty, Shailaja, Vasudev Kottary, Vijaya Lakshmi, Meera Ashok, Suresh Babu and Shivaraj, president of Narayana Guru Yuva Vedike were present.
Santhosh Kumar, engineer of the project was felicitated.
Nilayya Agari welcomed the gathering.
