Bangalore, Apr 30: A person, who was working as the personal assistant for a legislator, committed suicide by jumping from the roof of Legislators Home where the legislators are put up. The incident came to light on Monday April 29.
The person who ended his life in this way has been identified as Govinda Gowda (25), personal assistant of MLA, Doddappa Gowda Naribol, who represents Jewargi constituency. Govinda Gowda had jumped from the roof of the Legislators Home at around 2 am, and had fallen on the first floor parapet. His body was found on Monday morning.
Govinda Gowda, who was working as the personal assistant of the said legislator for the last five years, it is said, came in contact with a nurse when undergoing treatment at M S Ramaiah Hospital here a few months ago for removal of kidney stones. He had expressed his love to her, but she had spurned his advances, it is said. The lovelorn youth had tattooed the nurse’s name on his wrist and the chest, and had tried to commit suicide sometime back by slashing his wrist, but was saved.
In a suicide note left behind, he explained the reason for his decision to end life, and also that he had an outstanding loan. Post mortem of his body was conducted at Victoria Hospital, before being handed over to his relatives. A case was registered at Vidhana Soudha police station in this connection.
