Kundapur, Feb 2: The BJP camp in the taluk, which has been beleaguered after its four time-MLA, Halady Srinivas Shetty, quit the party citing betrayal by party leaders, is hopeful of reclaiming lost ground with the induction of Congress leader and former managing trustee of Kollur Goddess Mookambika Temple, B M Sukumar Shetty.
At a simple function held on Friday Febrary 1, Udupi district BJP president, Udayakumar Shetty, officially welcomed Sukumar Shetty into the party by handing over the party flag. He said Sukumar Shetty was an additional feather in BJP’s cap.
Byndoor MLA, K Laxminarayan, said that admission of Shetty into the party was a shot in the arm for the party, and that the party hopes to strengthen its base in the region with his help.
BJP block committee general secretary, Sadhashiva D, Prof A P Mittantaya, party leaders, workers and supporters of Sukumar Shetty participated in the function.
