Kundapur, Jan 5: The National Road Safety Week was organized by the Udupi District police and the Traffic department, Kundapur, here at the Raktheshwari temple.
The programme was inaugurated by DYSP Yashodha.
Dr Prakash Tholar, psychiatrist- Matha Hospital Kundapur was the resource person of the programme. He also presided over the programme and said, “Everyone should obey the rules and signals set by the vital points for safe driving which is important for one’s own safety and for the safety of other road users.”
He also added that awareness should be brought among masses to avoid overloading, over-speeding, rash, drink and driving and negligent and dangerous driving so that precious lives can be saved from dreaded accidents.
He urged drivers not to use cell phones while driving as it can lead to disaster.
Mohandas Shenoy, president- Town Municipality Kundapur, Vijay Manja, Prakash Devadiga MD- Agri Gold, SI Manjunath Kauri, Traffic SI Imran and Revathi, crime inspector were present on the dais.
The programme began by invoking the blessings of god with a prayer by Ramesh Kumar. Jayaram Gowda welcomed the gathering and also proposed the vote of thanks after the programme. The programme was compered by Suresh.
