Mangalore, Jan 6: The New Year was celebrated colorfully by SPARSHA’s North East Students Team (NEST), Mangalore, here, on Sunday January 6 at 10:30 am at La oasis, Pio Mall.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp and a formal stage function was organized prior to the games, lunch and the cultural events.
U T Khader, MLA, J R Lobo, Congress leader, Dennis D’Silva, Director, Sparsha, Roshan Castelihno, president, Sparsha and Jacob, president, NEST were the dignitaries present on the dais.
On his address, U T Khader said that the innovations behind the formation of this team Sparsha and NEST by Dennis, Roshan and others is very much laudable.
"India is a country where there is unity in diversity. Our country will be much stronger if every one go forward with the saying, India is one and Indians are one. Each and every state in our nation if different in its culture, tradition, features, practices and language, the final say is that we all are Indians", he added.
"Mangalore is a place with different rich heritage culture language and tradition. Mangalore is very much strong when it comes to the topic of education. Team Sparsha helps the outsiders to be like in a Home out of Home", he added.
J R Lobo said that there is a great thought and ideology behind the formation of this sort of association. India is a great country with loads of cultural, linguistic and traditional diversification, yet blended with unity and oneness.
Mangalore has a cosmopolitan outlook and Mangaloreans never diffrentiate between self and outsiders, this has infact lead to the overall development of this place and inturn helped a lot in making this place an educational hub.
He further urged all students of the North East to carry back home, the cherishing moments of Mangalore, so that they can feel that Mangalore is a better and safer place to pursue education, which also will support more people and outsiders to come here for educational purpose.
He asked the students to protect and preserve their own place, language and rich heritage and culture and not to leave this country and go abroad to search for their livelihood , as it has become a trend in Mangalore.
He also said that Mangalore will away protect and respect the outsiders at all times and situations and in fact the place is peacefull and harmonious.
Different spot games, cultural activities were also organized to add color to the event.
Roshan Castelinho delivered the key-note address. Jacob welcomed the gathering. Francis, PRO, NEST proposed the vote of thanks.
