Sakleshpur: Mangalore-Bangalore Train Services Resume

Daijiworld Media Network - Sakleshpur

Sakleshpur, Jan 6: Train services between Mangalore and Bangalore which were stalled following the snapping of the tracks near Sakleshpur on Friday January 4, have resumed.

On Saturday January 5, the Yeshwantpur-Kannur-Karwar train arrived in Mangalore and proceeded towards Bangalore the same night.

On Friday morning, the engines of Yeshwantpur Express to Kannur derailed due to a snap in the tracks. Luckily a major tragedy was averted thanks to the presence of the mind of the driver, who brought the train to a halt at the right moment.

Following the accident, train services between Mangalore and Bangalore had been cancelled for a day.

By Friday evening, the tracks were repaired, after which the train services resumed. The snapping of the track has raised some suspicion and the matter is being investigated, said railway officials.

The daily Mangalore - Madgao fast passenger train is very filthy. it needs to be washed with surf & dettol. The whole train stinks like a roadside garbage bin. The blue coloured seats are now brown & black. This train needs atleast 3-4 AC chaircar bogies.

Asking to cut down the bogies is not the right one as it is already within the recommended number. But instead they have to do a thorough checkup right before the train arrives will be a better option. Still it is for the people within the system and around the system to look into the safety aspect. Not to forget every individual has the duty to safeguard public property which includes the public infrastructure.

This accident (derailment) without casualties is a warning to the railway authorities. It is ‎absolutely necessary to reduce bogies to the recommended number. Safety of passengers ‎must be given top priority in any transport. ‎
