Mangalore, Dec 16: The Carmel Day celebration at Infant Jesus Shrine Carmel Hill, Bikarnakatte was held on Saturday December 15 at 5.30pm.
Fr Archibald Gonslaves (provincial OCD) presided over the programme. He said that we live for eternity in God’s plan and we live in history in man’s plans. He called upon the youth to involve themselves in politics and administrative services.
The chief guest for the day was J R Lobo. He assured the gathering that he was in the politics with an intention of helping the community and to assist them to gain their benefits. He said that he has the desire to be the salt and light and to the world about which the bible speaks.
The honourable chief guest of the day was Dr Cyprian Monis. He was of opinion that building up of faith and protecting it is not only the responsibility of the religious but also of the common man. He called the faithful to support the missionaries.
The other guests were Bro Gregory Menezes, Richard Machado and Philomena Lobo.
The other priest present during the programme were Greogary D’Souza, George Santhumayor, John Sequire, Fr Nelson Pinto, Fr Elias D’ Souza.
Culture programmes and jokes were enacted. The play named ‘Santha Khursache Kurven’, a battle for faith was enacted. The play was written by Br Josy Sidhakatte and directed by John M Permannur.
Fr James Pius D’ Souza welcomed the gathering.
Br Prakash D’ Cunha was the master of ceremony.
