Doha: Gurukiran Thunder Takes Music Lovers by Storm

Doha, Nov 24: The much-awaited ‘Gurukiran Musical Nite’ with a 19-member troupe comprising singers, musicians, mimicry artistes, and dancers invaded Doha to entertain music lovers and rendered a mesmerizing show in the first-ever international cultural event organized by Buntara Sangha Qatar (BSQ).
The event was held on Friday November 23 at the Regency Hall in Doha.
The evening will remain in the memories of all Karnataka people residing in Qatar for a long time to come, thanks to the outstanding performance by music maestro Gurukiran and his troupe. It was by far one of the best musical shows performed in Qatar.
A large crowd of music lovers and fans from all over Doha flocked to the venue much ahead of time resulting in a huge rush at the gates even before they opened.
The event began with an opening remark from cultural secretary Akshatha Hegde. Platinum sponsors of the event Chidanand Naik, general manager of Pallonji Qatar Ravi Shetty, managing director of ATS Jyothi Shetty,Vice President Prakash Ajila and general secretary Navnith Shetty marked the opening of the event by lightning the lamp.
Visiting MC VJ Anushree then took over the programme, charming the audience with her beautiful voice and sense of humour. Anushree Sampath is a popular DJ for all leading Kannada TV channels and has done shows like ‘Comedy Khiladigalu’ for Zee Kannada. From the very beginning she built up the tempo and connected with the audience with her unique and attractive style.
The programme started with the rocking Kannada number ‘Huduga Huduga’ by talented singer Chaitra, followed by ‘Nadedaduwa Kamanabilu’ by Chetan and ‘Bole Re Papiha’ by Anuradha Bhat. They stole the hearts of the music lovers with their lovely Kannada and Hindi numbers. Foot-tapping dance items by the Oxygen team electrified the atmosphere further.
Kannada's well-known, dynamic music director and singer, four-time Filmfare and state award winner Gurukiran then made a grand entry to the stage, flanked by dancers who were also flown in from India. Guru rocked the stage with his dual performance and the audience demanded an encore.
Guru, a Mangalorean, is not only a music composer but also a Sandalwood actor and a good singer who has established his name in the Kannada filmdom. Guru kept the audience engaged with his numbers ‘Barivolu’, ‘Um Ma’, Ee Jaga Sarialla’, ‘Mokeda Singari’, ‘Roop Tera Mastana’, ‘Nanagu Ninagu’ and ‘Kudla’.
As promised by Gurukiran during Tulu Koota Qatar felicitation function earlier, he and his troup performed rendered a historic evening at Qatar. He not only kept his promise, but even gave his fans much more than expected, creating magic with his songs and dancing skills. The audience thoroughly enjoyed every second of the memorable event, and even requested for another show. Truly, Gurukiran made every Kannadiga feel proud.
Mimicry artist Dayanand had the audience in splits of laughter with his superb comedy and mimicry. Laughter riot reverberated in the auditorium as he took digs on married couples, police and Kannada movie stars one after the other with his inimitable talent.
The programme continued with music and singing by playback singers and Guru inviting aspirant dancers, children from the audience who jumped on the stage and were dancing along with the singers and dancers.
Another highlight of the show was ‘Jugalbandi’ between drummer Devanand and guitarist Stephen, which went on for almost half an hour totally mesmerizing the audience.
The 19-member troupe was honored and presented with a memento from Bunts Qatar President Ravi Shetty and also the platinum sponsors were honored on the occasion.
A part of the proceeds of the show was donated to ICBF, whose president Kareem Abdulla received the cheque.
Ronald Colaco & family, Ravi Shetty managing director of ATS and Chidananda Naik the general manager of Pallonji Qatar were the platinum sponsors of the evening. Bhawani Shipping and In-land Group from Mangalore were the diamond sponsors. Jerald D'Mello of Space Trading, Mr. Naveen Shetty of AUMA, Pari Gallery, Prakash Shetty of MRG Group, Dr. Rajeeth Shetty and Land traders from Mangalore were the gold sponsors and Doha Bank, Al-Muftah, Qatar Kentz, Radisun Blu, Gulfar Misnad, Eram Group, Qatar UAE Exchange, International services limited, SASCO and AG Group were the silver sponsors.
All the artistes were feliciated and platinum sponsors honoured by Guru Kiran. Diamond and Gold sponsors were honored by BSQ president Ravi Shetty.
