Moodbidri, Nov 22: It was a double bonanza for fans of Tulu theatre as comedy duo Naveen D Padil and Devadas Kapikad came together on the single stage for a drama.
Tulu fans who flocked Samaja Mandira on Wednesday November 21 evening were overjoyed to watch the two stalwarts of Tulu theatre performing in the comedy play 'Pudar Deetiji'.
Padil as the deaf Bubanna and Kapikad as a bank employee regaled the jam-packed audience. The play was thoroughly enjoyed by the entire crowd.
Many fans from Mumbai too flocked the venue to watch the two actors in action. Journalist B K Ashraf Valpady who has written many plays and staged dramas every year created history this time by bringing Padil and Kapikad together.
It may be recalled that Naveen Padil had earlier parted ways with Cha Parka troupe and joined Lakumi troupe and had established himself with his performance in ‘Ganguna Gammath’ Tulu drama. A scene wherein Padil at last stands half-dressed and speaks his heart out brought out an artiste with immense power. He went on to gain popularity in cinema and serials.
It was Devadas Kapikad, a state-level award winning artiste with his amazing sense of humor who gave a witty touch to Tulu dramas.
When the two were seen together again, it sparked speculations whether Padil was into Cha Parka again with Kapikad. When Daijiworld contacted Padil, he brushed aside the possibility and said that he was a part of all Tulu troupes.
"I am part of all the Tulu troupes, and there is nothing like 'joining' Cha Parka," he said, adding that currently he is busy with a Tulu movie.
