Mangalore: NSUI Membership Drive to End on Nov 5

Mangalore, Oct 24: “The last date for submitting membership form for NSUI organizational elections for Karnataka state will be on November 5. The candidates and members can submit membership form to the District Returning Officer (DRO) of their respective district, who will reach their allotted district shortly”, said Amarnath Reddy, Pradesh returning officer of Congress, at the press meet held at the District Congress Office on Wednesday October 24.

All students above PUC level can contest in the election. There will be age restrictions. Date of birth of the candidates should be above December 31, 1985. Students of distance learning courses cannot contest the elections, he added.


Mohammed Althaf, district former president of NSUI, said that the students can access free membership forms online. 20% reservation will be reserved for female candidates. The election will be held for two-year term. NSUI will soon begin next round of internal elections in 22 states after the membership allocation. A student can become the member of organization by paying membership fee of Rs 10, he added.

NSUI has formed units in 10,648 colleges across the country.
 
Any student willing to join and contest should resign from other organizations.
 
Former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty, Abishek, Nazir Bajjal, Villas Athavara, Thejaswiraj, Deekshith were present during the press meet.
