Mumbai: National Teacher Award Conferred on Jean Moses Gomes

Mumbai, Sep 5: Jean Moses Gomes who hails from Modankap, Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district, principal of C E S Michael High School and Marceline Junior College of Arts Science and Commerce, Kurla, was recently honoured with the 'National Award for Teachers' at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi by Pranab Mukherjee, the President of India.
Jean Gomes, wife of Moses Michael Gomes (Kurla) and daughter of the late Monthu Vaz (Modankap, Bantwal) and the late Cecil M Vaz (Niddodi) is a Mangalorean Roman Catholic by birth. She has high humanitarian values and is lady of hardwork, patience, humility and endurance.
Jean together with her husband Moses dreamt and started a school in 1979-80 with 7 students in their home and today they have around 8,000 students getting education in their prestigious institute.
Jean Moses Gomes owes her success to her husband Moses who is a strong pillar of strength and support to her and also to her parents, especially her mother, who taught her that education is the only way that can lead to success.
Jean Moses Gomes has also won many other awards including the Mayor’s Award, Abraham Lincoln Puraskar, Shikshak Bharti Puraskar, Abraham Lincoln Prerna Award, Shishak Mitra Award, Payavaran Award etc.
Under her guidance her school has also been declared has the ‘Ideal School’ by the department of education. The results of the school, which have stood at cent percent over the past three years, speak highly about the qualitative education being delivered to its students.
Jean M Gomes holds high regards for her staff as well as students as and is always available for them with her innovative ideas and gentle love and care on the campus board.
