Bangalore, Jul 9: Four forest officials have been selected for P Srinivas Award for best protection works in forest and wildlife protection, including fire protection works in 2012-13.
The officials selected for the awards are: M Sridhara, Range Forest Officer (RFO), Chamarajanagar, Hunsur Circle; Eimamsab, Deputy RFO, Bellary, Chitradurga Circle; Tukkappa, Forest Guard, Gulbarga, Chincholi Circle; and R Nagaraj, watcher, Shimoga, Ajjampur Circle,.
The award was instituted in the name of IFS officer P Srinivas, who was killed by forest brigand Veerappan in 1991.
Officials selected for the award for raising best plantation are: T Neelakntappa, RFO, Davanagere; and Lingayya N., forest guard, Mangalore, Karkala Circle while B Nagaraj, RFO, Mysore, bagged the award for raising best nursery.
In the team category, ICT Wing Team, Aranya Bhavan, Bangalore, has been selected for Brandis Memorial Award for best innovation works in any field of forestry and wildlife.
K B Manjunath, DCF, Bangalore Rural, has been selected for Champion and Seth Award for best research work in forestry while Janardhana S Shiroor bagged the award for his works in FDA/CFC/JF&PM fields.
B Marappa Memorial Trust Awards for the year 2012-13 have been given to 11 forest officials.
The 11 award winners are: Y N Chikoppa, forest watcher, Belgaum; N K Nerali, forest watcher, Gokak; K B Prasad, conservator of forest, Mangalore; K Lingapiah, Deputy RFO, Mangalore; N Chinnappa, Deputy RFO, Mangalore; Siddamma Nagappakarigara, Deputy RFO, Dharwad; Munivenkatappa, farmer, Kadadenahalli, Kolar; C Basavarajappa, Deputy RFO, Mysore; Akram Dalayath, Deputy RFO, Mysore; S V Madhukar, Deputy RFO, Shimoga; and Ramrao, forest watcher, Gulbarga, according to a Forest Department press release.
