Mangalore, Jun 3: Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing (LMCN) along with SNA unit organized ‘Laxmi Carnival-2012’, a state-level inter-collegiate cultural, literary, and fine arts competition recently.
Around 210 nursing colleges from Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Maharashtra were invited, of which only 15 colleges from Karnataka responded to the invitation.
The inaugural programme commenced with invocation by third year B Sc Nursing students. The gathering was welcomed by Patsey Castelino, SNA advisor, L M C N.
Dr K N Vijayprakash, CEO of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat and commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation, was the chief guest. In his address, he appreciated the effort of the SNA unit in organizing such a splendid event. A J Shetty, managing director, Laxmi Memorial Education Trust, presided over the function. This was followed by the principal’s address.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Anil Jackson D’Souza, SNA student vice-president, Abhilash Nair, senate member, RGUHS, and Prashanth Shetty, vice-president, LMET, were also present on the occasion.
Around 15 competitions were conducted during the event in which students of LMCN also participated with great zeal. Lunch was provided on both days to all the participants, invitees, guests, and faculty of LMCN.
Prashanth Shetty, vice-president, LMET, Dr Devan, associate dean, AJIMS, and Dr Larissa Martha Sams, principal, LMCN, were present at the valedictory function. Prizes were distributed to the winners. Alva’s College of Nursing, Moodbidri, were declared as the overall champions of Laxmi Carnival-12. A trophy and a cash prize of Rs 10,000 were also given to the winners by Prashanth Shetty.
