Bangalore, May 26 (PTI): Lokayukta police today raided eight residences and offices of ruling party MLA M Srinivas, his son Venkatesh Babu and other associates with regard to a disproportionate asset case.
The searches were conducted under the supervision of P K Shivashankara, Superintendent of Police, City Division, Karnataka Lokayukta, Additional Director General of Police, Lokayukta H N Satyanarayana Rao said in a statement.
During the raids, Srinivas, a BJP MLA from Rajarajeshwari Nagar assembly constituency was found to possess a commercial complex, a 50x80 BDA site, two industrial sheds, documents pertaining to a school and lands in his name and that of his associates, Rs one lakh cash, 690 grams of gold, Rs 54.06 lakh deposits at different banks and accounts and 'incriminating documents' pertaining to houses and land, Rao said.
His son, Venkatesh, a Babu Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike corporator, was found to possess 18.19 acres of land, documents regarding a flat and also documents pertaining to four industrial sheds,three cars, a tractor, Rs 47,500 cash, two kg gold, 37 gms ruby, one carat diamond, 10 kg of silver and documents pertaining to houses and land.
Documents pertaining to houses and land were also found at the residences of Srinivas's asspciates, Rajanna and Nagaraja, Rao said.
On March 27, social activist Dinesh Kallahalli had filed a private complaint against Srinivas charging him and his family members with amassing wealth disporportionate to their known sources of income.
The complaintant alleged Srinivas had declared his assets to be much less than what it actually is while filing his nomination. The value of his assets as of today is over Rs 300 crore, the complainant alleged.
Apart from Srinivas, the others named are his wife Ratnamma, his son Venkatesh Babu and daughter-in-law. On Apr 5, Lokayukta court had ordered a probe into the complaint.
