Mangalore, May 26: Presenting statistics of the 2006 legislative elections, Monappa Bhandary, former president of the district unit and spokesperson of BJP on Friday May 26 said that the party had won the 2006 elections of graduate constituency with a big margin, and this year too it would keep up the same. Therefore this year, the party has no strong competitor, he said.

"Moreover, the response we got from the voters during the campaign for the upcoming elections is as good as that of 2006," he said, addressing media persons.

"It’s the BJP government that was instrumental in raising the salary of the teachers. No other government has ever appointed as many teachers as we did in just 4 years of rulling," Bhandary said.

"Though there are indifferences in the party, this has not stopped the development of the state," he added.

In addition, countering the criticism of former MLA Vijaykumar shetty who said that BJP yuva morcha was a flop show, Bhandary challenged the opposition to organize such a grand event as they did.

He also said that the protest that was organized by Ivan D'Souza demanding auto rickshaw stands was a cheap publicity stunt. "BJP had brought out the issue long ago and the matter was in the standing committee waiting for approval," he said.

Padmanabha Kottari, Nitin Kumar, Shrikar Prabhu, Rajgoparl Rai and Sudhir Shetty were present.
