Bangalore, May 25: All 10 government medical colleges in Karnataka have obtained permanent affiliation from the Medical Council of India (MCI) for admission of students for MBBS course.
Medical Education Minister S A Ramdas said 10 medical colleges of the Government have obtained permanent MCI affiliation for admission of students for MBBS course from this year.
Colleges located at Hassan, Raichur, Mandya, Shimoga, Bidar, Hubli, Bangalore, Bellary, Mysore, Belgaum received MCI affiliation.
Uniform bylaws will be made applicable to all colleges from this academic year.
College officials have been told follow uniform bylaws by registering colleges under the Karnataka Cooperative Societies Act in the next 15 days.
Different colleges were following different laws in the day-to day administration and recruitment so far.
In addition, the government medical colleges have been allotted additional 49 post graduate seats this year.
A decision has been taken to fill 222 vacant posts in Bangalore, Mysore, Raichur, Mandya, Shimoga, Bidar and Hassan medical colleges, the Minister said.
To ensure transparency during appointments, he said 15 per cent marks would be given to candidates during the recruitment of various posts.
Marks would be given to national and international publications, higher qualification, experience, presentation of papers in state/national/international seminars and personality/presentation in the interview.
The minister said generic drug shops would be opened in all hospitals attached to medical colleges and would sold medicines at subsidised prices (50 per cent discount on MRP rates).
The Medical Shops would become functional from June 15.
