Bantwal, May 23: Tulunada Rakshana Vedike, Punjalkatte unit, under the aegis of K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA), organized an eye camp, blood donation camp, and distribution of KSHEMA health insurance cards at Punjalkatte primary health centre, on Tuesday May 22.
KSHEMA vice-dean Professor Satish Bhandary inaugurated the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that donating blood and organs is significant and the awareness in this regard has to be effectively created. “It’s a welcome sign that the number of people donating their eyes is also increasing of late,” said Prof Bhandary.
Tulunada Rakshana Vedike founder president Yogish Shetty Jeppu sought the co-operation of people in its struggle against social evils besides conserving land, water bodies, and culture of Tulunadu.
Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) director Vishwanath Shetty, state backward commission member M Tungappa Bangera, Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, Dr Subramanya Bhat, TP members Ramesh Poojary and Padmashekar Jain, Punjalkatte gram panchayat president Laxminarayan Hegde, Dr Sohan Kumar, Pilatabettu Agricutlural Service Co-operative Bank president Booba Sapalya, Jan Jagruti Vedike president Padmanabha Salian, Tulunada Rakshana Vedike Punjalkatte unit president Ramesh Shetty Majalody, Krishna Gatti Someshwar, and Hameed Hassan Madoor were present on the occasion.
MLA Ramanath Rai felicitated regular blood donor Chaitra Jain and ambulance driver, a Samaritan, Abdul Jaleel during the programme.
Coastal Development Authority chairman Nagaraj Shetty distributed KSHEMA health cards to the beneficiaries.
