Udupi, May 3: A mentally-ill son reportedly killed his elderly parents at Nadoor near Mandarti here on Thursday early morning.
The deceased has been identified as 65-year-old Heriya Marakala and 60-year-old Babi. Their youngest son 26-year-old Suresh Mogaveer is the accused. Suresh is said to have killed his parents with a wooden log.
Heriya Marakala and Babi had three sons. Anand and Ravi are working in a restaurant in Bangalore. The youngest Suresh who is a bachelor has been reported mentally ill since over a month.
He had discontinued his early studies to work in a restaurant at Bangalore. He also worked in a restaurant at Hubli for a year. The restaurant owner sent Suresh back to his native village, owing to his mental illness. Suresh’s parents sought the help of temple priests to cure him. He seemed to be fine for a week and but then again returned to his earlier state. He was confined to his house and most of the time was found quarrelling with his parents.
After the murder, Suresh reportedly informed the neighbours about what he had done.
It is said that Suresh first hit his mother Babi killing her instantly. His shocked father Heriya Marakala ran outside the courtyard to save himself, but Suresh chased him and pounded him too. He pulled their bodies for about 50 meters away from the house and placed them under a cashew tree.
