Udupi, May 1: Siri Tuluva Chavadi Odipu organized ‘Tuluva Siri’ programme at Ravindra Kala Mantap in MGM College.
Chief guest MLA Raghupathi Bhat, speaking on the occasion, said that these kind of programmes will help avoid mixing other language words with Tulu language. Insisting that only Tulu should be spoken during the programme, Bhat stated that there have been united efforts to boost Tulu culture, food system, and Tulu traditional rituals.
Shehnaj M, chief editor, ‘Anupama Mahila’ monthly, another guest on the occasion, said that one should love his or her mother tongue. “Though people from this region go abroad, the same amount of love should be retained by them,” she said.
Kumari Charithra Hegde (‘Kanchilda Baale’) lit the lamp before the basil plant and garlanded the plant. She poured water for the plant and inaugurated the programme.
Umanath Kotian, president, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, presided. Ramesh Kalmadi, member, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, Manjula Shetty, member, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, Kiran Kumar, president, Udupi City Municipality, and Y N Shetty were present on the dais.
