About 3.5 Tonnes of Marijuana Seized in Thailand


Bangkok, Apr 29 (IANS): Thailand's biggest-ever haul of marijuana, weighing 3.45 tonnes, has been seized in the country's Saraburi province, police said.

According to police spokesperson, the drugs were packaged in boxes labeled with a British address as destination. A man named -- Nipon "Yap" Mopad -- has been arrested for possessing the drugs, Xinhua reported.

The man confessed having been paid 100,000 baht ($3,300) for delivering the drugs at Bangkok Port, from where they were to be sent to an overseas destination, said Saraburi police chief Major-General Chalit Preechaharn.
