Beijing, Apr 27 (IANS): Eleven miners remained trapped Thursday in a flooded coal mine in southwest China, authorities said.
The flooding occurred around 10.30 a.m. in Xinsheng coal mine in Guizhou province's Yanhe county. Twenty-two people were working underground but 11 managed to escape.
More than 200 people, including officials, have joined the rescue efforts, Xinhua reported. The mine produces 90,000 tonnes of coal annually.
