Mangalore, Apr 18: Darshan Raj C G of the Department of Chemistry, P A College of Engineering, Nadupadavu, here, was awarded a doctoral degree in chemistry for his thesis 'Synthesis, characterization of bioactive chalcone derivatives and studies on their antimicrobial and antioxidant activities' by Visvesvarya Technological University (VTU) at its 11th convocation.
He worked for his PhD degree under the guidance of Prof B K Sarojini, head of the Department of Chemistry, P A College of Engineering, with BRNS project fellowship.
Darshan Raj is the first PhD candidate graduated from P A College of Engineering and it is the first indigenously produced PhD at the engineering colleges of Mangalore region.
Dr Darshan Raj C G has published several research papers in international peer reviewed journals and also presented papers at many national and international conferences, he won the best oral presentation award at international conference held at NIT, Rourkela, Odisha.
