New Delhi, Mar 31 (IANS): Two-wheeler maker India Yamaha Motor Saturday reported a 13.9 percent increase in sales during March. The company sold 41,886 units as compared to 36,768 units in the like period of the previous financial year.
The company reported 15.6 percent sales growth in the domestic market during the period under review with 29,819 units as against 25,786 units in March 2011.
In the export markets, the company sold 12,067 units in March 2012 as compared to 10,982 units during the like period of 2011, the company said in a statement.
"We are pleased with the encouraging response we have been receiving for our deluxe and premium segment bikes such as the YZF-R15 Version 2.0, FZ series and SZ series," said Hiroyuki Suzuki, chief executive officer and managing director, India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd.
"We are planning to strengthen our best 3S (Sales, Service and Spares) set-up in tier-2 and tier-3 cities and increase sub-dealers in the rural areas to further boost our sales in the coming months," he added.
The company is making steadfast efforts by conducting consumer-centric marketing initiatives such as Yamaha R15 One Make Race, Yamaha Safe Riding Science (YSRS) for college students and kids, Yamaha Service Camps to name a few.
